Francisco Madrid-Gambin

Francisco Madrid-Gambin (@Frankhasi) is a senior postdoctoral researcher at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute (HMRIB–IMIM, Barcelona), with training in biomedicine, biostatistics, and the study of complex biological systems. His research focuses on human metabolism, multi-omics integration, and the relationship between peripheral biological processes and brain function, with a particular interest in the mechanisms underlying cognition and subjective experience following exposure to psychedelic compounds. He has participated in and led national and international projects in metabolism, aging, colorectal cancer, mental health, and neuroscience, combining advanced metabolic profiling and biomedical data with statistical and machine learning approaches. In recent years, his work has expanded to include the study of non-ordinary states of consciousness, exploring how ancestral practices and ritual contexts can engage with contemporary neuroscience. His work aims to bridge science, experience, and meaning, advocating for an integrative view of human biology in which body, mind, and environment form an interconnected system. In the context of public engagement, he is committed to bringing scientific knowledge into spaces of cultural and spiritual reflection, fostering dialogue between scientific evidence, rigor, introspection, and personal transformation.
